Full job description

Position Overview
The Facilities Housekeeping position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment across YMCA facilities. This role contributes to a positive experience for members, participants, employees and visitors by ensuring assigned areas are maintained to YMCA standards.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

Services, cleans and supplies locker rooms, public restrooms, etc.
Launders towels.
Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
Gathers and empties trash.
Cleans and polishes fixtures.
Cleans windows, glass partitions and mirrors.
Dusts furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
Mixes water and detergents according to specifications to prepare cleaning solutions.
Attends staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience in a commercial, recreational or similar environment is an asset.
WHMIS training is an asset, training will be provided if not already certified.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
Valid driver's license and access to own transportation.
First Aid/CPR/AED or willingness to obtain.
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and clearance from the Department of Social Development.

Working Conditions

This is a hands-on position, with the majority of working time spent performing or directly supporting cleaning operations;
Work takes place across multiple YMCA locations and may include early mornings, evenings and weekends based on operational needs;
The position requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and reaching and the safe use of commercial cleaning products and equipment;
Travel between assigned YMCA locations is required;
First Aid/CPR certification may be required; and
All employees are expected to follow YMCA health and safety requirements and Service that Shines Standards.
