The General Manager, Sales and Operations is responsible for providing strategic and day-to-day leadership across all operational and sales functions of the company, including maintenance divisions, project operations, fleet/equipment, shop operations, Account Managers, sales teams, and support staff. This role drives operational efficiency, revenue growth, profitability, team development, and customer satisfaction while ensuring alignment between sales objectives and operational capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee all operations and sales activities to ensure efficiency, quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction
- Coordinate workforce planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and operational systems across departments
- Ensure alignment between sales commitments, operational capacity, and production delivery
- Collaborate with leadership on company strategy, growth initiatives, budgeting, and forecasting
- Develop and maintain standardized processes, workflows, KPIs, and reporting systems
Team Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and develop Supervisors, Account Managers, sales personnel, and field teams
- Foster a positive, accountability-driven, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement
- Oversee onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management
- Support succession planning and long-term employee development
Sales & Business Development
- Drive revenue growth through new business development, client retention, and expansion opportunities
- Oversee sales activities including prospecting, proposals, estimating, contract negotiations, renewals, and customer communication
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, property managers, contractors, and strategic partners
- Support seasonal snow and ice management sales, renewals, and pricing strategies
Financial & Operational Performance
- Manage departmental budgets, labour costs, project margins, and profitability targets
- Review pricing strategies, estimates, contracts, RFPs, and change orders
- Identify operational efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality and safety standards
- Monitor pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and operational performance metrics
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture across all operations
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, environmental standards, and company policies
- Partner with the safety team to improve safety performance and reduce incidents
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial maintenance, construction, or related industries
- Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership or operations management role
- Proven experience managing multiple crews, projects, and operational departments
- Strong financial, operational, and strategic planning abilities
- Demonstrated leadership, team building, and performance management skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, scheduling, estimating, and project management software
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Valid driver’s license required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
