This position reports to the Manager, Retail Financial Accounting.

Complete day-to-day accounting and month-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations in multiple currencies

Understand and address complex accounting concepts

Prepare external reporting schedules and variance analysis commentary

Completion of information requests from external, internal auditors and corporate tax

Provide financial and business analysis to support key strategic objectives

Promote and maintain an effective internal control environment in compliance with Nutrien’s SOX requirements

Collaborate with others to identify process improvement opportunities and automations

Ownership of Joint Venture accounting process

Play a key role in the partnership required for SAP ERP conversion activities from an accounting perspective and support system implementation for remaining US Retail Region and Joint Venture business unit

Accounting for Retail Equity Investments

Completion of Continuity Schedules

Acquisition allocation and accounting

Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a recognized institution
-
2+ years of relevant business experience is preferred

Understanding of IFRS & US GAAP
-
Growth mindset and ability to adapt to an advancing organization

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on intermediate Excel skills and experience with PowerBI

SAP and/or Peoplesoft experience is desired

Ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines and display a sense of urgency around month-end deadlines

Ability to adapt to new processes and system solutions to best support accounting and finance teams across the organization

Mature attitude and ability to work well in a team environment and exhibit strong business ethics
