Landmark Sign is looking for an experienced Aluminum & Steel Fabricator to join our manufacturing team.
This is not a typical production fabrication position.
At Landmark Sign, almost everything we build is custom.
Every project can be different. Dimensions change, materials change, designs change, and sometimes there simply isn't an obvious way to build what has been designed.
That's where we need someone who can look at a problem, think it through, and figure out how to make it work.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a skilled fabricator with experience working with aluminum, steel, and other metals who takes pride in building things properly.
Sign industry experience is not required.
We are interested in experienced fabricators from a variety of backgrounds — including architectural metalwork, sheet metal, custom fabrication, welding, marine fabrication, industrial fabrication, structural fabrication and similar trades.
What matters most is that you are a good fabricator, a problem solver and a craftsman.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will be involved in building highly customized signage and architectural elements from raw materials through to finished products.
Depending on the project, this may include:
- Fabricating aluminum and steel structures
- TIG and MIG welding
- Cutting, bending, forming and shaping metal
- Working from shop drawings and engineering drawings
- Measuring and laying out components
- Building frames, cabinets, returns, brackets and structural components
- Working with sheet aluminum and steel
- Using saws, brakes, shears, welders and other fabrication equipment
- Fitting and assembling complex components
- Modifying designs or fabrication methods when required
- Working with the production team to solve fabrication challenges
- Producing clean, accurate and professional finished work
And sometimes...
Figuring out how the hell we're going to build something that has never been built before.
That's actually one of the best parts of the job.
WE WANT SOMEONE WHO THINKS
The ability to weld is important.
The ability to fabricate is important.
But how you think is just as important.
We are looking for someone who can look at a drawing and ask:
“What's the best way to build this?”
Not simply:
“How have we built it before?”
Our projects can involve unusual shapes, tight tolerances, difficult installations, unconventional materials and designs that require creative fabrication solutions.
Sometimes the answer isn't obvious.
We need someone who enjoys that challenge.
THE RIGHT PERSON WILL:
- Have solid experience in aluminum and/or steel fabrication
- Be comfortable reading drawings and interpreting dimensions
- Have strong measuring and layout skills
- Be confident with MIG and/or TIG welding
- Understand material properties and fabrication techniques
- Be able to work independently
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Take pride in the quality of their work
- Be comfortable working on one-off custom projects
- Be willing to experiment and find better ways to accomplish a task
- Be able to troubleshoot fabrication problems
Sign fabrication experience is an asset, but it is not required.
If you have strong fabrication skills and enjoy building things that are different every day, your experience may transfer extremely well to our industry.
COMPENSATION
$30.00 – $45.00 per hour
Wage will be based on experience, skill level and ability.
We are willing to pay at the higher end of the range for a fabricator who can demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship, welding and problem-solving ability.
