Registered Psychologist (RPsych)
Independent Contractor | Remote/Virtual | Alberta
$110 per session | Reviewed at 6 and 12 months | Path to $140 for established contractors
About This Role
The Mental Health Clinic (MHC) is a growing online counselling practice serving clients across Alberta, with a strong presence in Edmonton and Calgary. We provide therapy to teens, adults, couples, and families through secure telephone and video sessions.
We are expanding and seeking a Registered Psychologist to join our virtual practice. This role is well-suited to a psychologist who values clinical independence, wants to focus on delivering quality care, and is looking for a practice environment that handles the administrative and business side so you do not have to.
This is an independent contractor position requiring a minimum commitment of 12 to 15 client hours per week, with the opportunity to scale toward a fuller caseload as demand grows.
What You Will Do
- Conduct consultation and intake sessions with prospective clients.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals, couples and/or families through secure telephone and video sessions.
- Assess, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with CAP professional standards.
- Support clients experiencing concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, burnout, grief and loss, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, parenting etc.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches as clinically appropriate.
- Schedule and manage ongoing appointments with clients as part of the therapeutic process.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation
- Uphold ethical, professional, privacy, and record-keeping standards established by the College of Alberta Psychologists.
- Maintain consistent availability and communicate schedule changes to the clinic in a timely manner.
What You Will Receive
- Clients: We actively invest in marketing and advertising to generate clients for you. As is standard in any private practice or clinic setting, caseloads take time to build and we encourage all applicants to approach the first few months as a caseload-building phase.
- Flexibility: Set your own schedule within your committed availability window. You decide when you work.
- Independence: Manage your clinical work with full autonomy. We trust our clinicians to work professionally and independently.
- Administrative Support: We handle new client inquiries, incoming calls, emails, billing, and payment processing. Once a client is matched with you, building the therapeutic relationship and rebooking are your responsibility as the treating clinician.
- EHR System: Your own fully set up Jane App account for scheduling, secure video sessions, documentation, and client management.
- Professional Email: A clinic-branded email address to support professional communication with clients.
- Treatment Planners: Access to Wiley treatment planners to support evidence-based treatment planning and documentation.
- Support: Virtual practice can feel isolating at times. If you need a consult, a second opinion, or simply want to debrief a challenging situation, management is available. You will have a direct line of contact whenever you need it.
- Compensation: Bi-weekly payments at a flat per-session rate so you always know exactly what you will earn. Compensation is reviewed at 6 and 12 months based on availability, professionalism, engagement with the clinic, and caseload development.

- Current registration as a Registered Psychologist (RPsych) in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
