Position Overview
Our client is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk to join their accounting team in Brantford. This role will be responsible for supporting a variety of accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on Accounts Payable, budgeting support, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable invoices and vendor payments accurately and efficiently
- Manage vendor accounts and respond to payment inquiries
- Assist with employee timesheets and payroll-related reporting
- Prepare bank drafts and support banking transactions
- Perform account and vendor reconciliations
- Assist with budget preparation, tracking, and reporting
- Support project costing and property budget administration
- Prepare and maintain financial spreadsheets and reports
- Enter journal entries and maintain accurate accounting records
- Assist with month-end accounting activities
- Maintain organized filing systems and supporting documentation
- Communicate with internal departments and external vendors regarding accounting matters
- Support multiple business entities and inter-company accounting processes
- Assist with various accounting and administrative duties as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable experience
- Strong Accounts Payable experience is required
- Experience working with multiple companies or entities is considered a strong asset
- Inter-company accounting experience is highly preferred
- Experience with Sage 300 and/or Yardi is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities

Experience & Education
- 3-5 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable experience preferred
- Secondary education and/or accounting-related education considered an asset
