Our client, Grand River Enterprises, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to assist with the company's accounting and financial reporting functions.

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will provide support with the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance department.
The successful candidate will assist the finance team with accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support the finance department with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis activities.
- Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor working capital, banking relationships, and treasury functions.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for ownership and senior leadership.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting operations and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Proven experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.
- Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environment is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and evolving business environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Expected starting salary in the $100,000-$125,000 range, with final compensation based on the successful candidate's qualifications, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
