Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Advisor to support the Grand Rapids project in Manitoba. This position is a 6-month assignment fully dedicated to this major project and operates on a 14/7 rotational schedule. The HSE Advisor will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, and supporting both site management and field teams in maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Safety Leadership
- Promote a strong safety culture through daily engagement with workers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct site orientations, support toolbox talks, inspection site, weekly safety meeting and safety briefings.
- Serve as the primary on‑site contact for all HSE matters.
2. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation (e.g., provincial OHS regulations, environmental requirements, COR).
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date safety documentation, including inspections, permits, training records, and incident reports.
- Support audits, inspections, and client HSE reporting requirements.
3. Hazard Identification & Risk Control
- Perform regular site inspections and hazard assessments (JHAs, FLHAs, Risk assessments).
- Identify unsafe conditions or practices and work with supervisors to implement corrective actions.
- Verify that control measures are in place and effective.
4. Incident Response & Investigation
- Assist with emergency response coordination and ensure readiness of equipment and procedures.
- Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and development of corrective/preventive actions.
- Track and follow up on action items to closure.
5. Training & Worker Support
- Deliver or coordinate safety training as required (PPE use, confined space, fall protection, equipment safety, etc.).
- Support workers in understanding safe work procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Encourage reporting of hazards, near misses, and safety concerns without fear of reprisal.
6. Environmental Stewardship
- Monitor environmental compliance (waste management, spill prevention, emissions, noise, wildlife considerations).
- Support environmental reporting and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Additional certifications depending on industry (e.g., construction safety training, confined space, fall protection).
- Experience on hydro project sites
Skills

Pay: From $42.98 per hour
