WSP’s Resources subsector, part of our Energy, Resources & Industry business line, supports mining and heavy industrial clients across Canada. Our teams deliver engineering and project execution excellence across the full project lifecycle—from conceptual studies and detailed design to commissioning, optimization, and beyond.
In this role, you will shape the electrical power systems that drive Canada’s mining and industrial sectors. Based out of any one of our offcies in Newfoundland, you will support and lead electrical design for both new construction and brownfield projects, influencing project outcomes from concept through completion. Your work will help our clients operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Your Impact
- Design electrical power distribution and control systems that support safe, reliable industrial operations.
- Apply your technical expertise to hazardous classification environments including flammable gases and combustible dusts.
- Conduct power system studies—load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash analysis—using tools such as ETAP or EasyPower.
- Prepare specifications and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and associated equipment.
- Deliver electrical systems design across power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and more.
- Incorporate regulatory compliance, safety considerations, and risk analysis into every stage of design.
- Oversee engineering calculations and verify design accuracy through field reviews and site evaluations.
- Coordinate design activities across disciplines and offices to support seamless project execution.
- Build relationships with clients, respond to technical inquiries, and provide expert guidance.
- Mentor junior staff and help grow the next generation of electrical engineering talent.

Compensation:
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 – $130,800
MB & ON: $90,100 – $124,100
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $89,200 – $118,500
