Full job description

Position Summary

Bay Steel Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our growing team. The successful candidate will perform fabrication, welding, installation, repair, and maintenance work on a variety of industrial, commercial, structural, piping, and mechanical projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

This position requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and teamwork while working in both shop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities

Perform SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes as required.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, and welding procedures.
Fabricate and assemble structural steel, piping systems, pressure piping, tanks, and miscellaneous metal products.
Fit, tack, weld, and inspect components to meet project specifications and quality requirements.
Perform field installations, repairs, and maintenance work at industrial facilities, power plants, tank farms, and customer sites.
Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, ironworkers, and cutting equipment.
Conduct equipment inspections and maintain tools in good working condition.
Complete required quality control, inspection, and safety documentation.
Work safely in accordance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
Participate in confined space, fall protection, and other safety programs as required.
Assist with rigging, material handling, and general shop duties.

Qualifications

Red Seal Journeyperson Welder preferred.
Apprentice welders with relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience with structural steel fabrication and industrial piping systems is considered an asset.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

WHMIS
First Aid/CPR
H2S Alive (asset)
OSSA or equivalent safety training (asset)

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to travel and work overtime as required.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
