Job Purpose & Responsibilities
This is a permanent, full-time position with the Corporate Services Department.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for:
- Updating safety forms, policies, the safety manual and Safety Library
- Developing new safety materials and resources
- Facilitating the Safety Incentive Program and Safety Week
- Scheduling and tracking safety training courses
- Managing incident report tracking
- Back up for the Safety Advisor when necessary
- Conducting new hire orientations and assisting with new employee onboarding
- Maintaining employee files
- Interpreting and monitoring the collective agreement rules and regulations regarding policies and issues as it pertains to safety
- Identifying potential gaps in current HR policies and procedures
- Researching related to collective agreements, legislation, and other projects as required
Qualifications & Competencies
- Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a Municipality or Government setting
- Knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong interest in Safety
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Ability to present to small and large groups
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Strong problem
- solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Valid class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
More Details
This position is Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. for 35 hours per week.
