The Opportunity
As LYNKED continues to grow, we are building out the engineering depth of our Innovation team. This new Junior Mechanical Engineer position sits at the heart of our product operations, supporting technical documentation, product compliance, meter testing, and field services across our BTU and water metering portfolio. You will work closely with our Senior Engineering Manager and contribute directly to the functions that keep LYNKED's products accurate, compliant, and market-ready.

What You'll Do
Product & Meter Technical Support
- Provide first-line technical support on BTU and water metering inquiries across internal teams
- Assist in troubleshooting metering diagnostics and documenting findings in LYNKED's Head-End-System (HES) software.
- Support cross-functional teams by translating technical metering questions into clear, actionable information.
RMA & Product Quality
- Inspect and test returned meters, gateways, and IoT devices to confirm warranty status and functionality.
- Carry out cleaning, validation, and documentation of RMA units in accordance with established procedures.
- Investigate return trends and escalate recurring failure patterns to the Senior Engineering Manager.
Technical Documentation
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering specifications, technical drawings, datasheets, and product documentation.
- Support preparation of compliance documentation and materials related to Measurement Canada (MC S-A-01) accreditation standards.
- Contribute to revision work for BTU meter Notices of Approval (NOA) and support ongoing U.S. market compliance projects (NTEP, AWWA).
Field Services & Commissioning Support
- Support field services with audits, commissioning, and troubleshooting of metering and communication systems at project sites across Southwestern Ontario.
- Prepare clear service and audit reports for internal teams and clients.
- Assist with inventory procurement support, forecasting, and discrepancy resolution as needed.
Research & Innovation Support
- Assist with competitor and new technology research to support product roadmap discussions.
- Contribute to lab improvement projects and participate in new product testing as LYNKED expands its product portfolio.
- Support special project requests including grant application materials and regulatory submissions as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- College diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, or a closely related engineering discipline. Hands-on college graduates are equally welcome — this is a practical role and formal technical training is what counts.
- Genuine interest in precision measurement, fluid systems, thermal energy, or IoT technology.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in testing, validation, and documentation tasks.
- Self-starter who can manage tasks independently while knowing when to escalate.
- Comfortable working in both lab and field environments.
- Valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed for field travel).
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with water meters, BTU meters, or thermal energy measurement systems.
- Exposure to Measurement Canada standards or product compliance processes.
- Experience with HES platforms, IoT devices, or communication protocols.
- Previous co-op, internship, or lab experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office, JIRA, or SharePoint.
