Overview
The Enhancement Lead plays a key role in supporting the successful inclusion of children with diverse needs within our summer programs. This position provides leadership, mentorship, and direct support to Enhancement Staff who work alongside children requiring additional support related to behavioural, developmental, physical, communication, social-emotional, or medical needs. The Enhancement Lead acts as a resource for staff, families, and leadership teams by helping implement individualized support plans, responding to emerging program needs, and promoting inclusive practices that enable all children to participate meaningfully in program experiences. All aspects of this position will be performed while working within the framework of the vision, mission and program statements and the policies and procedures of DCCCCI, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual and How Does Learning Happen?
Duties and Responsibilities
Staff Leadership and Support
· Provide day-to-day guidance, mentorship, and support to Enhancement Staff across program sites.
· Assist staff in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Enhancement Plans, behaviour support strategies, and inclusion practices.
· Support staff in problem-solving challenges related to children's participation, engagement, and well-being.
· Model effective strategies and inclusive practices within program environments.
· Facilitate regular check-ins with Enhancement Staff to identify successes, challenges, and resource needs.
· Assist with onboarding and orientation of new Enhancement Staff.
Program Support
· Respond to emerging program needs and provide direct support where additional assistance is required.
· Assist with transitions, challenging situations, and crisis prevention strategies when needed.
· Ensure support plans are implemented consistently and respectfully.
· Promote a positive, inclusive, and child-centred environment for all participants.
· Collaborate with program teams to adapt activities and environments to support participation and belonging.
Training and Capacity Building
· Support the training of staff on:
o Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
o Enhancement Plans
o Inclusive practices
o Responsive Behaviour Guidance strategies
o Documentation requirements
o Child-centred approaches to support
· Share resources, tools, and strategies that strengthen staff confidence and effectiveness.
· Assist in facilitating professional learning opportunities throughout the summer.
Coverage and Operational Support
· Provide break and lunch coverage for Enhancement Staff as required.
· Support staffing adjustments and redeployment based on daily program needs.
· Assist with maintaining appropriate supervision and support ratios.
· Help coordinate resources and materials needed to support children and staff.
Collaboration and Communication
· Maintain open communication with Coordinators, Supervisors, Educators, and Enhancement Staff.
· Participate in meetings related to children's support needs and program planning.
· Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
· Support positive relationships with families by collaborating with leadership when concerns or questions arise.
The Enhancement Lead will perform other duties as assigned by the Inclusion Coordinator.
Qualifications
Education, Qualifications and Certifications
· Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Educational Support, Recreation, or a related field.
· Experience supporting children with diverse behavioural, developmental, physical, and social-emotional needs.
· Experience working within inclusive child care, camp, recreation, or educational settings.
· Strong interpersonal, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

· Ability to adapt strategies to meet a variety of children's needs.
· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Working Conditions
· Frequent movement between program areas and sites.
· Active participation in indoor and outdoor program environments.
· May be required to assist with personal care and physical support needs as outlined in individual support plans.
· Ability to respond to behavioural, emotional, and safety-related situations in a calm and professional manner.
Pay: From $20.01 per hour
