Designed from the ground up, our new 20,000+ square foot, state-of-the-art Emergency and Specialty Hospital, located at 11650 18 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta, officially opened its doors with our Surgical Service in May 2026. We are now expanding our team as we launch our 24-hour Emergency Service.
Fuller Animal Specialty Hospital (Fuller Animal Inc.) is a family owned, referral-based small animal specialty hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Our mission is to provide exceptional patient care through compassion, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
Our hospital was designed with patient and employee comfort in mind. As a stand-alone building, we have windows throughout, bringing in natural light into all treatment areas. The dog ward and cat ICU wake up to the morning sun. The sun set is captured in our lobby, southwest facing exam rooms and employee areas. The first floor is the clinical area. We have multiple operating rooms, dog and cat ICU, multiple Canon radiology suites, Canon ultrasound rooms, special procedures area (endoscopy and dentistry), Canon computed tomography, large exam rooms designed for specialists and emergency clinicians, Idexx and Antech inhouse lab and a large treatment area. The second floor is for employees and continued education events.
We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking, and compassionate Veterinary Assistants, Coordinators and Managers to join our Specialty and Emergency teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Emergency Veterinarians, Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs), and board-certified specialists in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Position Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in supporting patient care and hospital operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting veterinarians and RVTs with patient restraint, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures.
- Preparing patients for examinations, surgery, and emergency procedures.
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assembling, and organizing surgical packs.
- Operating and maintaining the autoclave and ensuring proper sterilization protocols are followed.
- Monitoring inventory levels and restocking treatment, surgical, and emergency areas.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment through routine cleaning and disinfection.
- Assisting with patient transportation throughout the hospital.
- Providing compassionate care and comfort to hospitalized patients.
- Assisting with laboratory sample preparation and diagnostic equipment as directed.
- Supporting the emergency team during triage and critical patient care.
- Performing general hospital and veterinary assistant duties as required.
The ideal candidate is:
- Passionate about animal care and patient advocacy.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Comfortable working evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or emergency hospital is considered an asset, but motivated candidates with a strong work ethic are encouraged to apply.
