About the role
Together We Can is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and grounded Registered Clinical Counsellor to join our team at Spirit Path in Terrace, BC. This role is centred on creating a safe, respectful, and supportive space where clients can explore personal challenges, build insight, and move forward in their recovery journey with dignity and care.
The Registered Clinical Counsellor provides high-quality individual counselling, clinical assessments, and ongoing therapeutic support for clients in an addiction recovery-focused environment. This position works closely with an interdisciplinary team and community supports to help ensure each client receives meaningful, responsive, and person-centred care.
We are looking for someone who brings empathy, sound clinical judgement, and a deep commitment to supporting individuals with complex needs, including trauma and crisis-related concerns.
What you will do
- Provide individual one-to-one counselling sessions in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment
- Complete clinical intake assessments and ongoing reviews
- Build strong therapeutic rapport with clients and support them in identifying goals and meaningful plans of action
- Use a variety of counselling approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs and circumstances
- Facilitate process groups as needed
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely client case notes
- Support clients in accessing appropriate community resources and referrals
- Respond to conflict and provide crisis intervention when needed
- Interact respectfully and professionally with clients, co-workers, family members, visitors, and the public
- Collaborate with the broader care team to support continuity of care and positive client outcomes
- Contribute to the development, review, and revision of group materials delivered by facilitators as needed
- Follow all organisational policies, procedures, and applicable licensing or registration requirements
- Continue to develop professionally and engage in ongoing learning related to addiction recovery and therapeutic practice
What you bring
- Master’s degree in Counselling or Counselling Psychology
- Registration in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
- At least 1 year of experience working in an addiction recovery-focused environment
Skills and strengths
- Strong clinical assessment and counselling skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work with compassion and respect with individuals experiencing addiction-related challenges
- Understanding of recovery-oriented approaches, including 12-step, Indigenous cultural healing, and SMART Recovery models
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations
- Sound decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- Comfort with basic technology and office systems, including email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and related tools
- Commitment to ongoing training, professional growth, and reflective practice
