Lakehead University, Thunder Bay campus, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education (Thunder Bay Campus), in the area of Digital Technologies, Flourishing, and Educational Transformation. The position will commence on September 1, 2026, or soon thereafter.
This position strengthens Lakehead University’s commitment to sustainability and human flourishing by guiding responsible, equity-focused, and ecologically aware uses of digital technologies in Education. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in some combination of the following: the development and pedagogical application of digital technologies in K-12 education; the impact of generative AI on literacy and learning; applications of gamification, maker spaces, immersive virtual environments and play; questions of digital surveillance and privacy in K-12 Education; data literacies; ecomedia literacy; digital citizenship; design thinking; and innovative assessment practices for a changing classroom. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
About the Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education has 24 full-time faculty members and offers concurrent and consecutive Teacher Education Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior and Intermediate/Senior divisions), HBEd (Indigenous), BA/BEd (Indigenous Learning Major), the Indigenous-led Keewatinase Initial Teacher Education Program, in-service Professional Development in Education programming, MEd, and PhD programs. The Faculty of Education is committed to working with local Indigenous community partners through innovative, collaborative, and community-based educational initiatives. We are in the process of expanding Indigenous Education at the Orillia campus.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have an earned PhD in Education and be in the process of establishing an active research program. PhD candidates who are nearing completion are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will:

Have the ability to work collaboratively with others on the continued development of the academic and research cultures of the Faculty and be able to contribute to the teaching and development of courses within the undergraduate Pre-service Teacher Education and graduate programs.

Have experience in teaching in elementary or secondary schools as this would be an asset.
Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is:

Assistant Professor: $88,094 - $133,223
Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
