Full job description

Southside Group is currently seeking a full-time accounting assistant to join our team as we continue to experience company growth. Reporting directly to the Controller, the selected candidate will be expected to provide full-cycle accounting support including accounts payable, invoicing, and financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate has good initiative and must be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

As our Accounting assistant you will be responsible for:

Assisting with day-to-day accounting functions across multiple entities
Preparing and filing government remittances for source deductions, HST, EHT and WSIB
Reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reviewing and entering vendor invoices, deposits and preparing journal entries
Preparing monthly financial statements and year-end working paper files
Assisting accounting team with various other tasks as needed
Possibly assisting reception staff during lunch hour

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

Post-secondary education in accounting and/or finance
Minimum 2-3 years of related accounting experience
Have previous experience with Quickbooks and Sage
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
