Dock Coordinator
Status: Full-time
Reports to: Distribution Supervisor
Location: Brampton Distribution Center
Shift: Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM–6:30 PM
The starting pay range for the role is $23.00- 28.93 based on experience and qualifications. Plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.
Reporting to the Distribution Supervisor, the Dock Coordinator is responsible for coordinating dock management, yard management, shipments with fleet, multiple carriers, assisting various departments with inquiries, and inventory issues relating to immediate issues on the floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work Sequencing: Assign and sequence work orders (Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Loading, Put-Away) to meet dispatch and dock-to-stock targets.
- Dock Flow Control: Manage and prioritize dock workflow, including door/trailer assignments, yard coordination, and vendor/carrier check-in/out.
- Load/Unload Execution: Ensure efficient loading/unloading with correct securement, temperature checks, seal verification, and proper documentation (BOL, ASN, manifests, labels).
- FEFO Compliance: Monitor adherence to FEFO and temperature integrity; escalate variances and segregate non-conforming product.
- Performance Management: Address dock performance issues (delays, damage, paperwork errors); implement corrective actions and quick 5S improvements.
- Leadership Coverage: Serve as backup leader during supervisor absences to maintain staffing balance, pace setting, and hour-by-hour dock plans.
- Asset Care & Inspections: Perform dock inspections (locks/plates, restraints, levelers, pit bars, MHE staging) and resolve operational issues promptly.
- External Coordination: Handle customer and supplier communications/coordination for inbound/outbound requirements; provide ETAs/impact updates to CS/Transportation.
Qualifications:
- Excellent Telephone/Communication/People skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management and priority allocation skills
- Proficiency in Word/Excel
- Exceptional multi-tasking skills
- Strong Organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- 2 years Prior logistics and supply management experience
- Post-secondary Business College Diploma an asset
