We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads from the front, and takes complete ownership of project execution on site.
Position Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for the complete execution of construction activities on assigned projects. You will coordinate subcontractors, internal crews, suppliers, equipment, schedules, safety, quality, and client communication while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to MTLI’s quality standards.
This role requires extensive travel throughout Canada and the United States.
Responsibilities
Lead all on-site construction operations from mobilization through project completion
Manage multiple supervisors, site leads, subcontractors, and field personnel
Coordinate daily work plans and manpower requirements
Ensure projects remain on schedule while identifying and resolving delays
Conduct daily site meetings and weekly client progress meetings
Monitor labour productivity and implement improvements where required
Review drawings, specifications, schedules, RFIs, and change orders
Coordinate deliveries, equipment, cranes, lifts, rentals, and logistics
Maintain excellent relationships with clients, consultants, vendors, and inspectors
Ensure all work complies with local building codes, project specifications, and safety regulations
Maintain complete site documentation including daily reports, photos, manpower logs, inspections, and progress updates
Identify project risks before they become problems and develop recovery plans
Manage project budgets, labour costs, subcontractor performance, and material usage
Work closely with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Executive Leadership
Ensure exceptional workmanship and quality control throughout every phase of construction
Lead project closeout including deficiencies, commissioning support, and final turnover
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of construction management experience
Experience managing industrial, commercial, or warehouse construction projects
Experience coordinating multiple trades simultaneously
Strong understanding of structural steel, warehouse systems, industrial construction, electrical, and mechanical installations
Excellent scheduling and planning abilities
Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour crews
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel extensively
Passport permitting travel throughout Canada and the United States
