Here’s what you’ll get to do:
Victim Support Coordinator – Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily activity reports, NICHE occurrences, crisis calls, telephone inquiries, emails, and referrals to identify and support victims requiring assistance.
- Refer eligible individuals to the Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP).
- Connect volunteers with victims as appropriate.
- Ensure follow-ups are documented and completed within established timeframes.
- Monitor volunteer shift compliance and performance, addressing any issues that arise.
Sexual Violence Coordinator – Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct follow-up on all sexual assault occurrences.
- Deliver the Sexual Assault Information Guide to all consenting victims.
- Discuss safety concerns and provide information on counselling referrals and community supports.
- Prepare “Close of Investigation” letters.
- Develop individualized safety plans as required.
- Complete supplementary reports in NICHE when necessary.
- Provide coverage for the Intimate Partner Violence Coordinator (IPVC) role when vacant.
Intimate Partner Violence Coordinator – Key Responsibilities:
- Contact victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) within 48 hours when charges are laid, as well as identified no-charge victims.
- Provide in-person or telephone support to review the Region-Wide Safety Plan.
- Discuss safety concerns, offer information, make counselling referrals, and provide community resources.
- Enter relevant data into the VSIRD database.
- Conduct outreach to all HARRT clients as necessary or required.
Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP) Coordinator – Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the VQRP, a Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services initiative that bridges the gap between the time of the crime and access to long-term support services.
- To provide timely monetary support to next of kin of homicides, attempt murder, criminal harassment, elder abuse, voyeurism, suicide scene clean, non-consensual distribution of intimate images, victims of serious assaults, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and hate crimes.
Crisis Intervention Coordinator – Key Responsibilities
- Attend crisis calls such as intimate partner violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, motor vehicle fatalities, sudden deaths and other priority calls.
- Provide safety plans, conduct risk assessments and connect families to appropriate community resources.
- Work in conjunction/in tandem with investigative units such as Intimate Partner Violence, Child Abuse Sexual Assault, etc.
- Adhere to the 3 day/2 afternoon shift schedule
What you’ll Bring to the Role:
Education, Certifications and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-year community college diploma in human, social services or Social work.
- Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and others, at an intermediate level
Experience, Knowledge and Skills: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with victims of violence, including expertise in threat and risk management. Additionally, at least two years of related experience in administrative or financial support is required. Flexibility in scheduling is essential for this role, as the hours are often extended, unpredictable, and subject to change on short notice, including evenings and weekends, due to the nature of crisis response. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and spoken communication, are critical when supporting victims and their families. The candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills, especially in high-stress situations, and possess strong problem-solving abilities to assess information and respond appropriately. Superior organizational and planning skills are also necessary to effectively coordinate volunteers and allocate resources. An understanding of the complexities of victimization and familiarity with community supports available in Halton is essential. The role requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with significant exposure to vicarious trauma. Lastly, the candidate must be able to function effectively as part of a team.
Scheduling Commitment and Hourly rate:
The successful candidate’s weekly hours will vary and be sporadic, with no guaranteed set number per week. You may be contacted last-minute to cover shifts due to staff illness, vacation, or pre-scheduled shifts (Monday to Friday, starting at 8:00 am). Full-time hours (up to 35 hours/week) may also be required to cover vacation, or increased workload etc. The contract lasts 6 months, with an option to extend based on staffing needs. It covers four positions: Victim Support Coordinator, Intimate Partner Violence Coordinator, Sexual Violence Coordinator, and Victim Quick Response Program Coordinator.
The hourly pay rate for the Victim Quick Response Program Coordinator is $45.14 (as of July 2026), while the other positions are paid at $58.45 per hour (as of July 2026).
Note: The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, and a criminal background screen.
