Position Summary
Nasittuq is seeking experienced Red Seal Mechanics (310T Truck and Coach Technician and/or 421A Heavy Equipment Technician) to support maintenance operations at remote Arctic radar sites. This rotational role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fly-in fly-out camp environment while benefiting from extended time off.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and computerized systems
- Maintain and complete work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Repair and service equipment including loaders, graders, snowmobiles, generators, and other powered equipment
- Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance
- Assist with snow removal operations and heavy equipment operation
- Support aircraft loading and unloading activities when required
- Complete fuel handling tasks including POL sampling and fuel offloading
- Travel between radar sites as required
- Provide on-the-job training (OJT) to team members as needed
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification required:
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician and/or
- 421A Heavy Equipment Technician
- Valid provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience
- Recent experience working on heavy equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair
- Experience using work order systems or CMMS for maintenance tracking
- Ability to work independently in remote and extreme weather environments
- Ability to commit to a 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off rotational schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in remote camp or fly-in fly-out environments
- Experience in Arctic or cold-weather operations
- Military QL5 or Journeyman certification
- Experience with diesel engines and off-road equipment
Compensation and Benefits
- 6 weeks on / 6 weeks off rotational schedule
- 48-hour work weeks with overtime paid at 1.5 times base rate after 40 hours
- Paid travel including flights and up to 2 paid travel days
