SENIOR UI/UX DESIGNEROVERVIEW
SportNinja is looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to help shape the future of the SportNinja platform across web and mobile.
SportNinja is a leading statistics and engagement platform for amateur sports, serving athletes, coaches, teams, leagues, and organizations across North America and beyond. We are rapidly expanding into new areas including mobile registration, livestreaming, biometrics, achievements, AI-driven insights, and new sports.
We are looking for a highly collaborative designer who is passionate about creating intuitive, engaging, and beautiful user experiences. This role requires someone who can think strategically about product design while also being hands-on in crafting polished interfaces and thoughtful interactions.
You will work closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to transform complex workflows and data-rich experiences into products that are simple, elegant, and enjoyable to use. Figma is our primary design and collaboration tool, and experience building scalable design systems and developer-ready specifications within Figma is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design of end-to-end user experiences across web and mobile (iOS/Android) platforms.
- Translate product requirements, business goals, and user feedback into wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Create intuitive experiences for complex, data-driven workflows and real-time sports experiences.
- Create and maintain design artifacts, interactive prototypes, and developer handoff documentation using Figma.
- Build and evolve shared Figma component libraries and design systems to ensure consistency across products.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout the design and implementation process to ensure designs are accurately implemented.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to continuously improve product experiences.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles across the organization.
- Iterate quickly on concepts and solutions based on feedback, analytics, and product objectives.
- Ensure consistency across the SportNinja ecosystem, including web, mobile, and white-label products.
- Contribute to product strategy by identifying opportunities to improve usability, engagement, and customer satisfaction.
- Help establish and evolve design processes, standards, and best practices.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Canada-based candidates only
- 5+ years of experience in UI/UX, Product Design, or Interaction Design
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work across web and mobile applications
- Expert-level proficiency with Figma, including:
- Components and variants
- Auto-layout
- Interactive prototyping
- Design systems
- Developer handoff workflows
- Experience building and maintaining design systems in Figma
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and interaction design
- Experience creating wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
- Ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences
- Strong visual design skills including typography, layout, spacing, and information hierarchy
- Experience collaborating closely with software engineering teams
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
BONUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- Experience designing data-rich SaaS applications
- Experience designing for sports, analytics, or consumer-facing products
- Experience managing large-scale Figma design systems across multiple products or brands
- Familiarity with React and React Native component-based architectures
- Experience conducting user interviews, usability studies, and synthesizing user feedback
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Experience working with product analytics tools
- Experience creating animations, micro-interactions, or motion design
- Experience working within Agile / SCRUM environments
- Experience designing white-label or highly configurable products
- Familiarity with developer workflows and translating Figma designs into production-ready implementations
