Park Enterprises is seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our expanding team as an Electrical Safety Codes Officer!
The challenge:
The Electrical Safety Codes Officer (ESCO) is responsible for professional client consultation, ensuring the safety, compliance, and integrity of electrical installations by conducting thorough inspections, interpreting and enforcing Alberta’s electrical codes and regulations, and providing guidance to contractors, engineers, and homeowners. The ESCO plays a critical role in promoting public safety, energy efficiency, and industry best practices while fostering a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to regulatory compliance.
We are specifically seeking candidates to provide service to locations such as Wainwright, Edmonton, Lloydminster and area. The successful candidate will be located central to these communities, and travel is required based on the service area.

What you’ll do:
- Perform detailed inspections of electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to ensure compliance with the Alberta Electrical Code and Safety Codes Act
- Interpret and enforce safety codes, regulations, and industry standards with impartiality, issuing correction notices and approvals as required
- Provide expert technical guidance to electricians, contractors, engineers, and homeowners on electrical safety, compliance, and best practices
- Assess electrical permit applications, ensuring project designs meet regulatory requirements before approval
- Document inspection findings, identify deficiencies, and issue correction notices or enforcement actions as necessary
- Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare detailed reports as required
- Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with external stakeholders and provide electrical safety codes education to enhance Park’s reputation and provide an exceptional client experience
- Apply a working knowledge of building standatas, notices, variances, codes, and standards
- Follow up on conditions and notices to ensure deficiencies are corrected
- Stay current with electrical code updates, advancements in electrical systems and technologies, and industry best practices while maintaining Safety Codes Council certification requirements
- Successfully navigate Park’s permitting platform (eSITE) and computer software including email and electronic tools such as a tablet to perform daily tasks such as report writing or plan examinations
- Positively contribute to various initiatives pertaining to team growth, development, efficiencies, or public education
- Foster Park’s philosophy of being an agency that performs “Inspections by People Who Care!”
What you’ll bring:
Technical
- Electrical Group A certification through the Alberta Safety Codes Council (SCC) is required
- Journeyperson Electrician certification recognized in Alberta with at least 4 years of experience at the journeyperson level
- Electrical Group B certification is an asset
- Extensive knowledge of the Alberta Safety Codes Act, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and all other applicable regulations
- Experience working as an ESCO is a big asset
- Able to demonstrate forethought and a commitment to the industry’s safety codes
- Proficiency in preparing and writing reports
- Working knowledge of Google Suite is an asset; ability to learn new software
Non-technical
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated emotional intelligence and sensitivity to needs of our customers
- A high level of self-discipline, motivation, flexibility, and integrity with the propensity to be proactive and take initiative
- Effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks and actions needed
- Ability to work both autonomously with limited supervision and as part of a team to deliver an exceptional client experience
- Ability to address conflict and concerns in a professional manner with a client-centric approach
- A clean, neat, and professional appearance and the propensity to consistently communicate with tact and diplomacy
- Value Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
