Position Summary
Casa 1881 is seeking an experienced and service-focused Assistant Food & Beverage Manager / Lead to support the day-to-day operation of our restaurant and breakfast service.
This position is primarily responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations during breakfast, lunch, and mid-day service periods, as well as Sunday dinner service and other dinner shifts when the Food & Beverage Manager is not on site. The successful candidate will act as the operational leader on duty, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong team performance, and adherence to Casa 1881's service standards.
This is a leadership position and is not intended to carry a regular serving section. The Assistant F&B Manager may assist with tables and guest service when required, but their primary focus is overseeing the operation, coaching team members, and ensuring service excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations
- Lead front-of-house operations during assigned shifts.
- Act as Manager-on-Duty when the Food & Beverage Manager is not present.
- Ensure all service standards and operating procedures are followed.
- Maintain a professional, organized, and guest-focused dining room environment.
- Support breakfast, brunch, lunch, and Sunday dinner operations.
- Conduct opening and closing procedures as required.
Guest Experience
- Welcome and engage with guests throughout service.
- Address guest concerns and service recovery opportunities professionally and promptly.
- Ensure every guest receives warm, attentive, and memorable hospitality.
- Monitor online reviews and guest feedback trends and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Team Leadership
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing training to front-of-house team members.
- Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
- Support staff scheduling, shift coverage, and daily communication.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.
Administration & Controls
- Assist with labour management and scheduling recommendations.
- Ensure POS procedures and cash handling policies are followed.
- Monitor cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout the restaurant.
- Support inventory counts, ordering, and operational reporting as required.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service execution.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of restaurant supervisory, lead server, or management experience.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations and guest service.
- Experience leading teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with restaurant POS systems.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when leading shifts.
Schedule
This position will primarily work:
- Breakfast and mid-day shifts
- Wednesday through Sunday (schedule may vary; long weekends)
- Sunday dinner service
- Additional shifts when the Food & Beverage Manager is not scheduled
