About Vision Greens

Vision Greens is an innovative Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) company producing premium leafy greens through advanced vertical farming technology. Our highly automated facility integrates PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, conveyors, irrigation systems, environmental controls, and packaging equipment to deliver safe, high-quality products.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Industrial Automation Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and continuous improvement of our automated systems.

Position Summary

The Industrial Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical and automation systems throughout the facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving system reliability, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting the commissioning of new equipment and facility expansion projects.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC-controlled production equipment and automated systems.
Design, build, modify, and troubleshoot industrial electrical control panels.
Develop, update, and maintain electrical CAD drawings and technical documentation.
Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or equivalent).
Configure, program, and troubleshoot HMI systems.
Program, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot field I/O devices, sensors, motors, instrumentation, and control wiring.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical and automation equipment.
Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control system faults.
Support the commissioning, startup, and validation of new production equipment and automation projects.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, wiring diagrams, backup programs, and equipment documentation.
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Production teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance.
Follow all GMP, food safety, health & safety, electrical safety, and company policies.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support during after-hours emergencies when required.

Qualifications

Diploma or Certificate in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Electrician (442A), or a related discipline.
1–3 years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing maintenance.
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, and control circuits.
Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs.
Experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting VFDs.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD electrical drawings.
Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profinet is considered an asset.
Experience with commissioning automated equipment is considered an asset.
Experience in food manufacturing or a regulated manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Comfortable working in refrigerated, humid, and wet production environments.
Comfortable working around automated machinery, conveyors, electrical panels, and moving equipment.
Ability to safely work at heights using ladders, scissor lifts, or other approved elevated work platforms when required.
Must be willing to participate in an on-call requirement and respond to equipment breakdowns, shutdowns, and commissioning activities outside of regular working hours when required.
Strict adherence to all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, Working at Heights, food safety, and PPE requirements.
