Twelve Mile Recovery
Job Description — Clinical Addiction Recovery Lead
Position Overview
Twelve Mile Recovery is seeking an experienced Clinical Lead to direct and oversee clinical care across our mental health and substance use program. Clinical Lead is responsible for the quality, integrity, and consistency of clinical services delivered to clients. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines clinical expertise with team supervision, ensuring that every client receives evidence-based, trauma-informed care grounded in recovery principles.
The successful candidate is both a skilled clinician and a confident mentor — someone who can set the clinical standard, coach a multidisciplinary counselling team, and uphold best practices in the treatment of concurrent mental health and addiction concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall delivery of clinical care within the mental health and substance use program, ensuring services are safe, effective, ethical, and aligned with current best practices.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and clinical supervision to counselling staff, supporting their professional development and clinical decision-making.
- Oversee and support the team on case management and individualized care planning, including assessment, treatment goals, progress monitoring, and discharge/transition planning.
- Ensure clinical documentation, charting, and case files meet program standards, regulatory requirements, and professional accountability expectations.
- Review complex cases, providing clinical consultation and direct support during high-acuity or crisis situations.
- Foster a cohesive, trauma-informed clinical culture and promote consistency in approach across the counselling team.
- Collaborate with the broader interdisciplinary team — including medical, peer support, and program staff — to coordinate integrated client care.
- Contribute to ongoing quality improvement, supporting the development and refinement of clinical policies, protocols, and program practices.
Required Competencies
The Clinical Lead must bring deep clinical knowledge and practical expertise in the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. Specifically, the candidate will be:
- Well informed on the intersection of trauma and addiction, with a strong grasp of how trauma shapes substance use and recovery.
- Familiar with and skilled in the application of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
- Proficient in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its use in supporting client engagement and behaviour change.
- Grounded in recovery principles and a recovery-oriented model of care.
- Experienced in the assessment and treatment of concurrent disorders (co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions).
In addition, the ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership and supervisory skills, sound clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor and develop a counselling team.
