We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team and support the execution of major infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia. Position Summary Reporting to senior management, the Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of assigned projects.The successful candidate will possess a strong civil construction background and a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary construction teams across civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning scopes.This role requires an individual who can effectively coordinate multiple contractors, trades, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders while maintaining project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety performance.The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading complex infrastructure projects involving significant earthworks, underground utilities, concrete structures, process facilities, utility installations, and associated construction activities. Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills are essential.Initial Project AssignmentThe successful candidate will initially be assigned to a significant municipal wastewater infrastructure project located in British Columbia's Interior region.The project includes the construction of:
- Duplex wastewater lift station with a design capacity of 100 L/s
- Blower and chemical treatment building
- Two partial-mix wastewater treatment lagoons
- Polishing pond
- Reclaimed water storage pond
- Associated civil earthworks and site development
- Mechanical process systems
- Electrical and instrumentation systems
- Testing, commissioning, startup, and project turnover activities
The Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of project execution, including client communication, subcontractor management, procurement, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, environmental compliance, and project closeout.This project represents a unique opportunity to lead the construction of critical municipal infrastructure that will support long-term community growth and environmental stewardship.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership
- Lead projects from award through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
- Coordinate field operations with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, specifications, drawings, and regulatory obligations.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project coordinators, site supervision, and project support staff.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary construction scopes including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning activities.
Financial Management
- Manage project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and reporting.
- Review and approve purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and progress claims.
- Track labour productivity and project performance metrics.
- Prepare monthly financial and operational reports.
- Protect project profitability through effective planning, risk management, change management, and procurement strategies.
Contract Administration
- Manage contract documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress claims, and project correspondence.
- Negotiate and administer scope changes with clients and consultants.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements and project deliverables.
- Support contract negotiations and project execution planning.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, Indigenous communities, consultants, regulators, subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners.
- Represent Centerfire professionally at project meetings and stakeholder engagements.
- Support business development efforts and identify future opportunities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative and solutions-focused project environment.
Safety & Quality
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE requirements and applicable regulations.
- Oversee project quality control programs, inspections, testing, and turnover documentation.
- Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
- Ensure project execution meets Centerfire's standards for safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 7 years of project management experience in heavy civil, municipal infrastructure, utility, industrial, or energy construction.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary construction projects valued between $5M and $50M+.
- Strong civil construction background including earthworks, underground utilities, concrete structures, site development, and infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple construction disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, commissioning, and environmental scopes.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and field construction teams.
- Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders while balancing schedule, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project scheduling software, and project management systems.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Preferred
- Experience delivering municipal infrastructure projects including wastewater, water treatment, utility, earthworks, lagoons, lift stations, pump stations, or related facilities.
- Experience administering MMCD contracts.
- PMP, CET, P.Eng., Gold Seal, Construction Management, or equivalent designation.
- Knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience working with Indigenous-owned organizations and Indigenous communities.
