Automotive Mechanic / Licensed Inspection Technician
The Opportunity
Canadian Camper is growing, and we’re expanding our service capabilities.
Although our core business is RV sales and service, we’re looking for an experienced Automotive Mechanic who is qualified to perform Out-of-Province and AMVIC inspections and wants a stable role with variety, autonomy, and high standards.
This is not a traditional high-volume automotive shop position. You’ll be responsible for automotive inspections and mechanical work while also supporting our RV service operation with straightforward chassis-related work such as trailer brakes, wheel bearings, hubs, and running gear.
We’re looking for someone who can work independently, diagnose accurately, understand inspection standards, and deliver quality work without hand-holding.
If you’re tired of chaos, rushed jobs, unclear expectations, or working in a shop where doing things properly comes second to pushing volume, this may be a better fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
Primary responsibilities include:
- Performing Alberta Out-of-Province vehicle inspections
- Performing AMVIC-related vehicle inspections as required
- Diagnosing and repairing automotive mechanical issues
- Completing inspection-related repairs and corrections
- Performing brake, steering, suspension, wheel-end, and general mechanical work
- Documenting inspection findings and required repairs accurately
- Working with the service team to prioritize and complete jobs efficiently
- Maintaining proper inspection records and documentation
- Performing trailer brake service and repairs
- Inspecting, servicing, and replacing trailer wheel bearings
- Servicing hubs, drums, brake assemblies, and related trailer running gear
- Assisting with other mechanical RV or trailer repairs within your skill set
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work area
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a capable technician who understands that good mechanical work starts with accurate diagnosis, proper documentation, and doing the job correctly the first time.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Automotive Service Technician experience
- Current qualifications required to perform Out-of-Province inspections in Alberta
- Experience working within Alberta vehicle inspection requirements
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with brakes, steering, suspension, bearings, and general mechanical repairs
- Strong attention to detail and inspection accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good documentation and communication skills
- A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
- A professional approach to safety, workmanship, and accountability
Experience working on trailers, RVs, commercial vehicles, fleet vehicles, or light trucks is an asset but is not required.
You do not need to be an RV technician. We can teach the RV-specific side of the operation. What we need is someone with a strong mechanical foundation who is willing to apply those skills to trailer brakes, bearings, and related running gear when required.
What We Offer
We compete for good technicians—and we back it up.
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications
- Stable, full-time employment
- Consistent workload
- Modern shop with proper tooling and support
- Variety beyond repetitive automotive service work
- Clear processes and realistic scheduling
- A growing company with long-term opportunity
- Respect for technicians’ time and expertise
- A work environment focused on quality rather than unnecessary chaos
Why Canadian Camper
We’re not trying to be the biggest—we’re building one of the best-run RV operations in Western Canada.
That means:
- Less chaos
- More accountability
- Higher standards
- Better people
- Proper processes
- Quality work over shortcuts
As we grow, we’re building more capability in-house rather than sending work elsewhere. This position is an important part of that strategy.
You’ll have the opportunity to bring strong automotive mechanical and inspection experience into a business where those skills are highly valued, while expanding your experience into RV and trailer systems.
If you’re an experienced mechanic who takes pride in accurate inspections, solid workmanship, and being trusted to do your job properly, we should talk.
Apply with your resume and include details about your current inspection qualifications and automotive experience.
