Tilbury Tots Early Learning Centre is seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) who are experienced in supporting children with additional needs and behaviour challenges.

Position Overview
This is dual-role position. The successful candidate will:
- Be a fully contributing classroom educator
- Be included in staff-to child ratio as required under the Childcare and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
- Provide additional in class support for children requiring individualized behavioural or development strategies.
- Provide support to children with complex needs that may require a lift, wheelchair, feeding tube etc.
This position is not a one-to-one or non ratio position. The educator will carry full classroom responsibilities while implementing practices and behaviour support strategies within the existing program structure.
The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility as they may be required to work at various Tilbury Tots Early Learning Centre locations.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and in good standing with the College of ECE AND/OR
- Diploma in Child and Youth Work (CYW), Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW) or Autism and Behaviour.
- First Aid/CPR – level C Certified
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months of hire date)
- Current clear 2 Step TB Skin Test
- Demonstrated experience supporting children with additional needs and behavioural challenges
- Reliable transportation
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver developmentally appropriate programming in collaboration with the classroom team
- Maintain compliance with CCEYA licensing standards and organizational policies
- Support all children based on their social, emotional and physical needs that allow all children to meet their full potential.
- Work as a team to create an environment that meets all children’s needs.
- Take an active role in implementing and supporting inclusion strategies, which will include making modifications and/or adaptations that supports the learning of children in the program
- Model social play opportunities to all children in the program
- Collaborate, contribute and implement Individual Support Plans (ISP’s) in collaboration with supervisors, families, and external professionals.
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate activities
- Be knowledgeable on all children’s medical history
- Plan, prepare and implement daily activities (outdoor/indoors)
- Diapering care and supervision of all toileting and bathroom routines
- Maintain ongoing documentation domains
- Oversee all children’s feeding and meal time/snack time activities
- Ensure confidentiality of privileged information
- Participate in team meetings as required
- Assist with other related duties as required
Physical and Environmental Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Frequently lift and carry children weighing up to 40lbs
- Engage in active supervision including- prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling and sitting on the floor.
- Respond quickly to behavioural or safety situations
- Fully prepare to participate in outdoor programing in various weather conditions
- Support children who may demonstrate escalated behaviours including aggression, or emotional dysregulation
