Located in Whitehorse, Yukon, Friends of Mount Sima Society operates the Mt. Sima Ski Hill—a vibrant hub for recreational skiers, snowboarders, and elite high-performance athletes. We are looking for a creative, high-energy, and experienced culinary professional to step into the dual role of Food & Beverage Manager and Kitchen Lead. The Opportunity
This is a dynamic, year-round leadership role with room to grow alongside our business as we expand our future offerings. You will be the heart of our kitchen, leading from the front lines while executing a high-output culinary program.
We need a leader who can master two distinct culinary worlds:
- The Preseason & Athlete Training: Designing and executing high-performance, macro-friendly, and nutrient-dense menus tailored explicitly for visiting athletes.
- The Regular Season: Pivoting seamlessly to our traditional, high-volume mountain comfort menu for the general public, weekend riders, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Menu Innovation & Execution: Create, cost, and execute a brand-new menu from scratch, expertly balancing high-performance athlete nutrition in the preseason with crowd-pleasing winter comfort foods during the peak season.
- Hands-on Kitchen Leadership: Work directly on the line alongside your staff, keeping cooking standards high, ticket times low, and kitchen morale soaring.
- Team Building & Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise your kitchen team, fostering a collaborative, clean, and safe work environment.
- Operational Control: Monitor work hours, manage inventory, control food costs, and handle ordering to ensure the food and beverage department runs efficiently.
- Flexible Scheduling: Utilize the freedom to set your own schedule to best meet the operational needs of peak periods, including Preseason, Events, Christmas break, and March break.
What You Bring
- High-Output Kitchen Experience: Proven experience working in fast-paced, high-volume culinary environments.
- Menu Development Skills: Ability to conceptualize and execute creative, cost-effective menus from scratch. Knowledge of sports/athlete nutrition is an asset.
- Leadership Grit: Natural ability to recruit, lead, inspire, and manage a seasonal team while working right alongside them.
- Adaptability: The operational agility to shift gears quickly between athlete-specific fueling and volume-heavy lodge service.
- Reliability & Independence: Excellent self-management skills, financial accountability, and a commitment to completing seasonal contracts.
- Working with the team: Mt. Sima has a fun, tight nit and high functioning management team that you will work alongside with the meet the challenge.
