Cook / Kitchen Staff

Location: 159 Osborne Street. Winnipeg, MB

Naru Sushi located in Osborne Village Winnipeg. We looking for a dedicated and reliable individual to join our kitchen team. We are looking for someone who maintains high food-quality standards, and able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

We are hiring for full-time or part-time positions.

Here at Naru sushi as a member of our kitchen team, your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and prepping ingredients
Preparing sauces, marinades, toppings, and other kitchen items
Preparing and cooking menu items to Naru Sushi's quality standards
Operating deep fryers, stovetops, ovens, and other kitchen equipment safely
Following recipes and proper cooking procedures to ensure consistency
Monitoring cooking times, temperatures, portion sizes, and presentation
Assisting with sushi-related kitchen preparation as required
Maintaining proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
Checking the quality of ingredients before use
Maintaining clean and organized workstations throughout the shift
Washing dishes
Cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment, refrigerators, and storage areas
Completing daily opening and closing kitchen duties
Helping with inventory organization and notifying management when ingredients or supplies are running low
Minimizing food waste and following proper portion-control procedures
Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality
Communicating clearly with servers, sushi chefs, and other kitchen team members
Following all workplace health, safety, and food-safety requirements

Ideal Candidate we are looking for

Have previous experience working in a restaurant or commercial kitchen
Have experience with basic food preparation and cooking
Be comfortable working with a deep fryer and stovetop
Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Have good attention to detail and take pride in food quality
Be reliable, punctual, and responsible
Be able to follow recipes, instructions, and food-safety procedures
Have good communication and teamwork skills
Be comfortable standing for extended periods, lift heavy items and performing physical kitchen duties
Be willing to learn and take direction
Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward coworkers

Previous kitchen experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is hardworking, reliable, and eager to learn.

Full-time or Part-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour, negotiated depending on experience
