The
Manitoba Chambers of Commerce (MCC) is seeking a strategic and experienced
Director of Marketing & Communications to lead the organization’s marketing, communications, brand, and stakeholder engagement efforts. Reporting to the Vice President, Policy and Government Relations, you will develop and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies that advance MCC’s mission as the Voice of Business in Manitoba, strengthen member engagement, elevate the organization’s public profile, and drive participation in MCC initiatives and events. This role requires exceptional writing and storytelling abilities, strong political acumen, relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with professionalism and sound judgment.
As the Director of Marketing & Communications, you will:
- Lead MCC's integrated marketing and communications strategy, providing strategic counsel to leadership while advancing advocacy priorities, membership engagement, event participation, and organizational growth.
- Develop and execute marketing campaigns that promote MCC events, programs, initiatives, and sponsorship opportunities, driving attendance, engagement, and revenue objectives.
- Lead member-facing communications that clearly articulate the value of MCC membership, demonstrate organizational impact, and support member retention and recruitment efforts.
- Monitor media and emerging business and policy issues to inform messaging, positioning, and communications strategies.
- Serve as a primary liaison to local chambers, leading relationship management, communications, and alignment on key priorities and initiatives.
- Oversee the development of compelling, high-quality content across all MCC platforms, including website, newsletters, reports, speeches, marketing materials, and publications, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with MCC's brand and strategic priorities.
- Manage external vendors and publication partners, including contract negotiation and production oversight.
- Lead MCC's digital marketing and social media strategy, leveraging data and audience insights to expand reach, strengthen engagement, and support organizational objectives
- Lead media relations, including building relationships, managing inquiries, and supporting proactive and reactive communications.
- Collaborate across the organization to develop and execute marketing, communications, and promotional strategies that support membership growth, member engagement, event success, sponsorship fulfillment, and organizational priorities.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
You and Your Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, including leadership experience.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Policy, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven success developing and executing communications and marketing strategies.
- Strong political acumen, with the ability to navigate government, policy, and stakeholder environments effectively.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with demonstrated experience producing high-quality content for executive leaders, members, media, government stakeholders, and public audiences.
- Experience managing media relations, publications, vendors, and external partners.
- Strong relationship-building skills with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Experience leading digital and social media strategy.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector and interest in public policy are considered assets.
