Contractors are expected to travel to Saskatoon for chartered flights to camp sites.
Raise is currently hiring a Safety Training Specialist on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
Reporting to the Training Co-ordinator, the Safety Training Specialist is responsible for organizing, developing, and delivering site safety training programs. This role ensures site-wide compliance with regulatory standards, corporate policies, and positional curriculum requirements.
Using structured instructional design methodologies—specifically the ADDIE model and the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)—the ideal candidate will modernize and optimize existing training assets. A key focus will be transitioning traditional course content into efficient, engaging online and blended formats without compromising safety, quality, or compliance
Responsibilities

1. Training Delivery & Operations

Course Delivery: Facilitate dynamic safety training sessions using both in-person classroom instruction and online/virtual delivery methods.

Session Coordination: Schedule training sessions, manage meeting logistics, issue invites, and coordinate with qualified subject matter experts (SMEs) or guest instructors for specialized, non-routine training.

Compliance & Reporting: Routinely run deficiency and compliance reports to ensure all training evaluations, attendance forms, completion hours, and instructional materials are up-to-date, complete, and audit-ready.

2. Instructional Design & Curriculum Optimization

Program Modernization: Design, analyze, and evaluate site safety courses, actively identifying opportunities to digitize content and streamline training workflows.

Curriculum Maintenance: Review and maintain position-specific curricula to ensure full alignment with updated regulatory mandates, site standards, and corporate guidelines.

Material Optimization: Continuously refresh course content, manuals, and digital learning modules to maximize retention while minimizing operational downtime.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work collaboratively across site departments to understand operational training needs and resolve gaps proactively.
Apply problem-solving skills to overcome delivery hurdles and adapt training solutions to shifting operational schedules.

Qualifications
-
4+ years of direct experience in an industrial, operational, or heavy industry safety training capacity (Intermediate: 4–9 years; Senior: 10+ years).

Proven track record of delivering training across dual modalities (both in-person classroom and asynchronous/synchronous online platforms).

Direct experience applying the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process in a regulated or compliance-driven environment.

Demonstrated experience utilizing the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) framework to build and refresh learning conten

Technical & Professional Skills

Software Proficiency: Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, specifically MS Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel (for data tracking, reporting, and presentation delivery).

Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex safety regulations clearly to diverse workforce audiences.

Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong capability to run compliance data analyses, spot training deficiencies, and implement practical solutions.

Interpersonal Agility: Highly collaborative team player with a demonstrated ability to build strong, trusted working relationships across site teams.

Education and Certifications

Post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience in Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Human Resources, Education, or a related discipline.

Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) or formal Train the Trainer certification (Required / Highly Preferred).
