Position Summary
The Rigging Technician & Fabrication Specialist is a technical, hands-on role responsible for the precision assembly and safety certification of lifting equipment. This position involves the fabrication and splicing of slings using various materials, including synthetic rope, wire rope, and chain. The successful candidate will operate specialized industrial machinery—such as swaging and annealing machines—while adhering to strict ASME fundamentals and inspection procedures. This role is vital to ensuring that all lifting gear meets the structural integrity and safety standards required for heavy-duty industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
· Technical Fabrication: Perform expert splicing and terminations for synthetic rope, wire rope, and chain slings.
· Machinery Operation: Safely set up and operate Swaging, Test-bench, Reel Coiler, and Annealing machines.
· Safety Inspection: Execute wire rope examination procedures and apply removal criteria based on ASME rigging requirements.
· Testing & Certification: Support the pull-testing of equipment on the test-bench to verify strength and flexibility ratings.
Detailed Duties
· Production Precision: Fabricate various slings (Synthetic, Wire Rope, Chain) to exact customer specifications with zero tolerance for measurement errors.
· Safety Compliance: Apply ASME B30.9 standards to all fabrication and inspection tasks; identify and remove damaged or substandard rope/hardware from service immediately.
· Workflow Support: Collaborate with Order Picking personnel to ensure custom-fabricated items are staged correctly for outbound shipping.
· Operational Maintenance: Perform daily inspections and lubrication of the Swaging and Annealing machines; maintain a tidy fabrication bench and tool storage area.
· Site Safety: Maintain a clean, unobstructed work area.
· Equipment Care: Perform routine daily safety checks and basic maintenance on material handling machinery.
Necessary Qualifications
· Experience: Experience with ASME rigging fundamentals and Lifting Gear Inspection is highly valued.
· Physical Ability: Must be able to safely lift 50+ lbs from floor level to waist level and apply significant pushing/pulling force. Frequent upper extremity movements, including repetitive wrist and forearm rotation for splicing tasks.
· Communication: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required for documentation and safety protocols.
· Certification: Ability to operate (or willingness to become certified on) both a forklift and pallet truck.
· Compliance: Legally entitled to work in Canada. Enrollment of Group Life & AD&D Insurance portion. Clear Criminal Record Check.
Compensation and Benefits
· Hourly Rate: $24.50 per hour
· Overtime: Paid at 1.5x for hours worked beyond 40 hours per week (optional/as available).

· 9th Anniversary+: 160 hours/year (6.154 hours per pay period)
· Includes all statutory Protective Leaves (Pregnancy, Parental, Bereavement, etc.).
Schedule & Additional Information
· Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Full-time, Permanent).
· Breaks: Two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch period.
· Probation: Employment is subject to a 3-month probationary period.
