Unit Summary
Health Information Technology Services (HITS) is a service based business unit delivering healthcare IT solutions to Hamilton Health Sciences and various healthcare partners. The HITS team uses technical expertise to offer practical, sustainable and high quality solutions to the Hospital and to support HHS in achieving our vision of Best Care for All.
Position Summary
The HHS IT department (HITS) is looking for an M365 Application Specialists to join our Application Support team.
The Application Specialist is responsible for the administration of software solutions. This includes the configuration, administration, the design and development of custom software solutions using a wide variety of development tools and database technologies and ensuring that appropriate standards and processes are applied. The Application Specialist will compile user requirements and analyze, specify, and validate client needs. This includes interviewing stakeholders and applying analytical and project management skills to ensure that deliverables are met. You will analyze and troubleshoot complex technical problems and assist in the optimization of applications and the improvement of business processes. As part of the Application team, you will provide both technical support as well as user education and adoption support for many software solutions at HHS.
In the role of Microsoft 365 Applications Specialist, you will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, support, and optimization of Microsoft 365 applications and services including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Power BI and Copilot Agents. This role ensures secure, scalable, and effective use of collaboration and low-code platforms across the organization, while driving user adoption and operational efficiency in the M365 ecosystem.

Qualifications
Successful completion of either a University Degree or College Diploma in an IT or Health Care related field or equivalent experience- 3+ years experience working in an IT related field is required
- 3+ years experience working in Health Care IT is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with M365 administration is preferred
- Demonstrated Knowledge of M365 applications and best practices is preferred.
- Demonstrated Experience with supporting applications including servers and patching is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of hospital information systems is preferred
- Demonstrated planning, analytical and interpretative skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team and a strong commitment to the client. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in demanding situations
- Demonstrated ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and provide issue resolution
- Demonstrated proficiency in time management and the ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner
