About the role
We are looking for a Website Developer to maintain, improve, and build features for our organizational websites. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with existing sites, troubleshooting issues, and implementing clean, user-friendly designs.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update existing websites (content, layout, and functionality).
- Troubleshoot and resolve website bugs, performance, and display issues.
- Implement new pages, sections, and features based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with staff to translate ideas and content into effective web experiences.
- Ensure websites are mobile-responsive, accessible, and follow best practices for usability and SEO.
- Document key processes and provide basic training or handover notes as needed.
Required qualifications and skills
- Proven experience as a web / front‑end developer.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with at least one CMS (e.g., WordPress) and common plugins/themes.
- Familiarity with responsive design and cross‑browser compatibility.
- Basic understanding of website security and performance optimization.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and good communication skills.
Assets (nice to have)
- Experience with PHP or another back‑end language.
- Experience with website hosting, cPanel, and DNS.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Experience working with non‑profits or community organizations.
Contract details
- Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance.
- Start date: as soon as possible
Pay: $17.60 per hour
