Full job description

Position: Hotel Manager, Nunamiut Lodge

Location: Baker Lake, Nunavut

Reports to: Manager, Hospitality Services (Winnipeg – Home Office)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Hospitality Services, the Hotel Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Nunamiut Lodge through the hiring and training of local staff, payroll administration, day-to-day business communication, marketing and promotion, financial records and reporting and other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Hotel Manager is responsible for the fast-paced day-to-day operations of the Lodge (including the Main property, and the Annex property offsite), ensuring a positive experience for all guests. Supervision of the Hotel staff is required to ensure that guests experience a superior stay.

Ensures Inns North standards of cleanliness, amenities and facility maintenance are always maintained including in the office and general workplace. Delegate clean-up activities as required;
Effectively organizes and oversees all hotel duties including managing the reservation system, all filing (guestroom reservations, meeting room bookings, catering, lease information, invoices, statements etc.), ordering adequate office supplies, preparing, and sending customer invoices, and basic office procedures.
Effectively organizes and maintains hotel giftshop, including monthly inventory counts, maintaining inventory levels, etc
Coordinates and provides Airport Shuttle service for guests, along with other management.
With direction from Manager, Hospitality Services, hires, trains, disciplines and terminates local staff as required;
Provides training and ongoing coaching; supervises and assigns duties and responsibilities to Cook or Kitchen Manager and local staff in the performance of their duties and to ensure deadlines are met;
Coordinate all maintenance and repairs
Conducts day end closing procedures and reconcile reports as necessary. Reports all shortages or reconciliation issues with Manager, Hospitality Services;
Ensures daily deposits are made;
Coordinates with Kitchen Manager to maintain the efficient organization of meal planning; including inventory management.
Processes all incoming and outgoing transfers, invoices and charges; Ensures optimal customer relations by responding effectively to customer requests;
Ensures the accurate recording and organization of payroll records including timesheets, schedules and related payroll files and employee records;
Schedules with the Head Cook staffing requirements based on occupancy;
Schedules housekeeping staffing requirements based on occupancy;
Performs other duties as required to ensure the effective operation of the hotel operation.

And Other Duties as assigned:

The Hotel Manager is responsible for the general upkeep and overview of the Iglu Hotel, currently used as overflow accommodations.
The Manager, Hospitality Services may assign other duties that fit the overall goals of the Hotel Operations-Baker Lake and Arctic Co-operatives Limited.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all aspects of hotel management
Strong organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
Ability to train, supervise and motivate staff members
Proficient in application software – ideally Microsoft Office and POS
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
Physical abilities with no limitations
Valid Drivers Licence
Safe Food Handling certification
First Aid/CPR certification
Solid understanding of co-operative principles and philosophies
Knowledge of Marketing and Promotions
Asset: maintenance experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
