Opportunity Overview
San Rufo Homes is seeking an experienced operational executive to lead and optimize a mature, multi-department residential homebuilding organization entering its next stage of growth. This is not a startup builder role, nor a pure construction management position. The company has a robust land supply and has a very detailed 2-5-10 year land inventory matrix. We are also integrated with most of the developers in Edmonton and currently positioned for 150 to 200 homes per annum. We are also gearing up to launch our multi-family division.

The successful candidate will step into a well-developed operational environment and be responsible for integrating, aligning, and elevating performance across the organization. This role replaces the company’s current operational leader and is best suited for an executive who thrives in complex operating environments where leadership, accountability, systems thinking, and execution discipline are critical.
The Mandate
The General Manager will serve as the operational leader of the organization, responsible for:
- Aligning departmental execution
- Driving organizational accountability
- Improving operational efficiency and scalability
- Strengthening communication across departments
- Enhancing profitability and reporting visibility
- Building leadership capacity within the organization
- Supporting strategic growth initiatives alongside ownership
- This individual will partner closely with the President & CEO and play a central role in the company’s long-term operational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across all departments.
- Create alignment between office, field, client care, and preconstruction functions.
- Ensure consistent execution of company priorities and operational standards.
- Establish clear KPIs, reporting structures, and accountability systems.
- Organizational Performance
- Improve organizational efficiency and cross-functional communication.
- Remove operational bottlenecks and improve workflow coordination.
- Strengthen management systems and leadership accountability throughout the business.
- Drive operational consistency across departments and teams.
- Construction & Production Oversight
- Provide executive oversight to construction leadership teams.
- Improve scheduling performance, trade accountability, and build-cycle efficiency.
- Support field leadership with systems, communication, and operational clarity.
- Ensure construction operations align with financial and customer service objectives.
- Financial & Strategic Leadership
- Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and profitability management.
- Review operational performance metrics and job costing visibility.
- Identify opportunities for margin improvement and operational optimization.
- Support long-term business planning and scalable growth initiatives.
- Leadership Development
- Mentor and support department leaders across the organization.
- Build a culture of accountability, execution, and professionalism.
- Improve interdepartmental collaboration and communication cadence.
- Help establish leadership structure capable of supporting future growth.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly capable operational executive with significant residential construction leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to lead established organizations through growth and operational maturation.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience in residential construction or homebuilding
- Proven experience leading multi-department operational teams
- Experience managing established operational infrastructure and layered management structures
- Strong understanding of:
- Residential construction operations
- Production scheduling and workflow management
- Financial reporting and job costing
- Purchasing and trade management
- Organizational systems and process optimization
- Customer experience and warranty operations
- Leadership Attributes
- Strong executive presence and leadership maturity

- Experience within the Alberta residential construction market
- Experience scaling operational systems in a growing organization
- Background leading businesses with 30+ employees and multiple departments
