Production Technician

Since 2001, IRT Integrated Rectifier Technologies Inc. has manufactured electrical power supplies utilized in the Cathodic Protection industry internationally. We are a small team-oriented company of approximately 40 staff currently and pride ourselves on providing innovative solutions and quality products to protect industry assets and the world environment. We are located in west Edmonton and are seeking a mechanically inclined, performance driven person to join our team.

The successful candidate, reporting to the Production Manager (or designate), will fabricate electrical panels; utilize electrical components and materials to complete the assembly of panels, frames and assemblies; complete the electrical wiring of panels, sub-assemblies, and components; and carry out the final assembly process (into an enclosure) for various products in accordance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Fabricate product panels (phenolic, UTR, Lexan, etc.) or other items
Carry out assembly of rectifier, junction box and other product sub-assemblies
Create and affix labels to panels and assemblies
Carry out electrical wiring of rectifier, junction box and other product sub-assemblies
Install rectifier, junction box and other product sub-assemblies into enclosures and carry out the final assembly process
Complete production documentation as per quality control standards
Carry out maintenance of equipment in the work areas
Ensure work areas are in a clean and organized state
Assist in other areas/departments as may be required

Qualifications:

Manufacturing Background — While full training will be provided, candidates with prior experience in an electrical or mechanical product‑manufacturing environment are strongly preferred. Familiarity with production workflows, assembly processes, and quality‑control practices will support faster onboarding and higher performance.
Electrical Wiring Knowledge — Experience with electrical wiring, cable routing, or panel assembly is considered a valuable asset. Candidates should be comfortable interpreting wiring diagrams, handling connectors, and working safely around electrical components.
English Communication Skills — Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. The role requires clear documentation, effective teamwork, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.
Tool and Equipment Proficiency — Demonstrated experience using hand tools, power tools, and general manufacturing equipment is required. This includes tools such as drills, crimpers, torque wrenches, multimeters, and other equipment commonly used in assembly or production environments. Candidates should be comfortable working with tools for extended periods while maintaining accuracy and safety.
Electrical/Electronic diploma is a plus

Position Details

Full‑Time Employment — This is a permanent, full‑time, hourly role offering stable, long‑term employment within a growing manufacturing operation.
Work Schedule — Standard hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.
Work Environment — The position is based in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced setting that prioritizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork.
Safety Requirements — CSA‑approved steel‑toe safety footwear is mandatory.
Personal Protective Equipment
— The role requires the use of PPE such as dust masks, respirators, and earmuffs. Applicants must be able to wear all required PPE without restrictions.
Transportation — Access to a personal vehicle is preferred for reliability; however, public transit is available for commuting to the facility.
Industry Experience — Candidates with previous experience in custom electrical product manufacturing are strongly encouraged to apply. This role offers a competitive compensation package for qualified applicants.
