Our client is a well-established, growing manufacturer in the custom cabinetry, millwork, and building materials sector seeking an experienced Director of Production Operations to lead manufacturing, site operations, safety, quality, and operational performance across a complex production environment.
This newly created leadership role has been established to strengthen operational leadership and support continued growth.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day production execution, drive workforce performance, improve quality outcomes, and build operational discipline across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Leadership
- Provide overall leadership for manufacturing operations, production execution, site activities, and safety performance.
- Lead a non-union workforce of approximately 100–160 employees operating across multiple shifts.
- Ensure efficient coordination between manufacturing, field operations, installation teams, service functions, and warranty operations.
- Drive operational excellence through strong leadership, accountability, and execution.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of operational leaders responsible for production, site operations, safety, service, and warranty functions.
- Develop leadership capability and accountability throughout the organization.
- Foster a culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Performance & KPI Ownership
- Own and improve key operational metrics, including:
- On-time delivery and project completion
- Labour productivity and efficiency
- Production throughput
- Quality performance
- Rework and deficiency reduction
- Service and warranty performance
- Monitor operational performance and implement practical improvement initiatives that deliver measurable results.
Quality & Cost Management
- Strengthen quality processes throughout manufacturing and downstream operations.
- Reduce operational costs associated with:
- Rework
- Quality deficiencies
- Labour inefficiencies
- Ensure production output consistently supports installation, service, warranty, and customer expectations.
Operational Leadership & Customer Lifecycle Execution
- Lead and oversee manufacturing, field operations, installation, service, and warranty functions to ensure alignment, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Ensure seamless execution across the full customer lifecycle from production and installation through final delivery, warranty, and ongoing service support.
- Drive collaboration and performance across departments to improve overall business results and customer satisfaction.
Continuous Improvement, Technology & Transformation
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, quality, customer experience, and operational visibility.
- Lead operational transformation initiatives, including process redesign, technology adoption, automation implementation, and change management programs that improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and business performance.
- Champion continuous improvement methodologies and foster a culture that embraces innovation and operational excellence.
- Support the evolution of operational systems, reporting capabilities, automation tools, and performance management processes.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking a proven operations leader with experience managing large production teams within manufacturing environments that combine production, installation, and customer-facing delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience leading manufacturing operations.
- Strong background in production management, workforce leadership, quality, safety, and operational performance.
- Experience managing multiple layers of supervision and operational leadership.
- Demonstrated success improving labour productivity, throughput, quality performance, cost control, and operational effectiveness.
- Experience leading business transformation, process improvement, automation, or technology implementation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, scheduling, workflow management, and production planning.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic priorities and day-to-day operational demands.
- Experience supporting organizations through growth, operational scaling, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, coaching, change management, and leadership skills.
