Overview of role:
Join us and love where you’re going! WestJet is seeking a Senior Scrum Master to join our high-performing Mobile App team. Our app boasts over 2 million monthly active users and is the primary tool used by nearly every WestJet traveler to book flights, manage trips, check-in, track flight status, and access loyalty features.
In this role, you will act as a mentor and expert in Agile software development processes, establishing a robust, results-driven Scrum practice across our teams. While you will primarily anchor our Mobile Apps team, you will also scale your expertise to support an additional software development team to align standards, monitor performance, and optimize output.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide, coach, and mentor cross-functional teams on Agile Scrum practices to foster a self-organizing, high-performing environment.
- Organize and lead all critical Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospectives) for both the Mobile Apps team and your secondary team.
- Partner closely with Product Owners to support backlog grooming, intake management, and release planning. Proactively identify and eliminate delivery obstacles.
- Establish, track, and present quantitative and qualitative KPIs to drive measurable team velocity, quality, and continuous improvement.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Science, or a related technical field , alongside a required Certified Scrum Master (CSM) designation.
- 10+ years of experience working within Agile Software Development teams, with extensive experience as a Scrum Master or process leader.
- Deep expertise in Scrum techniques and artifacts (e.g., Definition of Done, User Stories, Automated Testing). Strong background in eCommerce or Digital product delivery (Mobile app experience is highly preferred).
- Outstanding communication, servant leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational skills to balance supporting multiple teams simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Agile delivery platforms such as Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
