About SAF Group

The SAF Group of entities (collectively, “SAF”, “we”, or “our”) was founded in 2014 in Calgary with the ambition of becoming one of Canada’s leading Private Credit firms. We now have offices in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto with a team of more than 40 professionals. Since inception, SAF has deployed more than $5.0 billion across a variety of asset classes and industries. SAF is deploying capital via both closed-ended and open-ended investment vehicles with a broad investor base including pensions, insurance companies, asset managers, endowments and family offices.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Summer Intern Analyst to join our Investment team. The ideal candidate will be a high energy and self-starting individual with a passion for critical thinking and financial/risk analysis, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Investment team in conducting in-depth credit analysis and due diligence on prospective investments, including financial modeling, valuation, and industry research;
Assist in preparing investment committee materials;
Maintain industry and investment benchmarking databases;
Support the monitoring of our portfolio investments, including reviewing financial performance, covenant compliance, and ongoing risk assessments;
Spearhead research initiatives and other ad hoc projects; and,
Communicate and interact with SAF counterparties and stakeholders.

Qualification & Skills

Your Qualifications

You have exhibited passion and curiosity for financial markets, private credit and investing;
You are an entrepreneurial thinker and possess strong problem-solving skills;
You have demonstrated academic excellence and extracurricular involvement;
You have excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to be a team player in an open office environment;
You are a developing leader, with strong communication and presentation skills;
You can multi-task, have phenomenal time management and work ethic;
You have excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills;
You have an advanced proficiency in the use of Excel™, PowerPoint™, and Word™; and,
Must be enrolled in a university degree program in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or another quantitative field.
