Job #5050 – We are recruiting an Accounting Clerk on behalf of a well-established national industry association for a full-time, permanent position based in Ottawa. Our client is a respected, member-driven organization that serves a diverse network of businesses across a vital Canadian sector. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Operations, the Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a dependable, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in an independent work environment while maintaining strong communication and interpersonal skills. They take a hands-on approach to their work, are comfortable supporting general administrative functions when required, and possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and general ledger processes. Main responsibilities include:

Processing full-cycle accounts receivable and payable, including invoicing, cash receipts, convention registrations, and employee Visa statements
Preparing bank deposits, credit card reconciliations, and related monthly adjustments, including discounts
Completing month-end processes, including deferred membership and foreign exchange calculations
Maintaining general ledger entries and ensuring accurate, up-to-date financial records
Responding to customer and vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Preparing audit and financial reporting documentation as required
Ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timeliness of all financial transactions
Providing general administrative support as required

Qualifications

The main qualifications for this role include:

Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field
Minimum 3+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience required
Experience with accounting software; Sage 300 experience is an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset
Proficient in Excel

How You Will Be Rewarded:

$60,000 – $70,000 annual salary range
