Fleet Service Technician

Position Summary:
The Fleet Service Technician supports the Fleet Mechanic and maintenance department in the inspection, servicing, cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance of ready-mix concrete trucks, plant vehicles, and related mobile equipment. This role is intended as an entry-level or developing technician position with opportunities for advancement into a heavy truck mechanic role.
Location: Creditstone Road, Concord.
Hours of Operations: The role requires working night shifts from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with potential start times as early as 4:00 PM. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility with respect to scheduling and shift variations.
Hourly Wage: $22-$25 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance & Repair:
· Perform scheduled lubrication and preventative maintenance on ready-mix trucks and support equipment.
· Complete fluid checks and servicing including:
- engine oil and coolant
- hydraulic systems
- transmission fluid
- differential oil
· Grease mixer drums, rollers, chutes, and suspension components.
· Assist with tire inspections, pressure checks, and tire changes.
· Replace filters, belts, lights, wiper blades, and other minor service components.
· Conduct daily and weekly fleet inspections.
· Assist Fleet Mechanic in repair and diagnosis as required.
Vehicle Cleaning & Concrete Build-Up Removal:
· Remove hardened concrete buildup from trucks, chutes, frames, and equipment.
· Maintain cleanliness of maintenance shop and wash bay areas.
· Ensure trucks meet company cleanliness and operational standards.
Inspections & Compliance:
· Follow company safety policies and Ontario health and safety regulations.
· Support CVOR and MTO fleet compliance requirements.
· Complete maintenance documentation accurately.
· Identify and report unsafe conditions or mechanical defects immediately.
· Maintain proper lockout/tagout and shop safety procedures.
· Ensure that all chemicals and materials are stored and handled in a safe and efficient manner as per MSDS standards and the company policies.
· Report workplace incidents, near misses, and accidents which may involve personal injury or property damage as per company policies and procedures.
Shop & Inventory Support
· Organize tools, parts inventory, and maintenance supplies.
· Assist with receiving and stocking parts deliveries.
· Maintain maintenance records and PM schedules.
· Support fuel tracking and service documentation.
Qualification Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Mechanical aptitude with interest in heavy trucks or equipment.
· Valid Ontario G licence required; DZ or AZ licence an asset.
· Experience with commercial vehicles, construction equipment, or automotive service considered an asset.
· Able to perform heavy lifting >25kg, work both inside and outside, in the heat and cold, and around moving equipment, and at heights >2 meters.
· Able to work irregular hours such as nights and weekend work.
