We are seeking a motivated Kitchen Operations Assistant to work alongside our Executive Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences while maintaining the highest standards of organization, cleanliness, hospitality, and operational support.

Job Purpose:
The Kitchen Operations Assistant supports the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, organization, and sanitation. This role assists with food preparation, dishwashing, stocking, deliveries, and overall operational efficiency in both kitchen and event environments.
The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, attention to detail, and a proactive approach while supporting meal preparation, service operations, kitchen sanitation, and catering logistics.
Reports to: Executive Chef
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Culinary Support
· Assist with ingredient preparation including chopping, peeling, washing, portioning, and measuring
· Prepare simple dishes and food components under chef supervision.
· Assist with food plating, garnishing, meal assembly, and service preparation.
· Support chef during meal service and catering events to ensure smooth kitchen workflow
· Assist all departments as directed by supervisors

· Ensure ingredients are organized, fresh, and properly stored
· Support stock rotation, portion control, and food waste reduction practices
Dishwashing, Cleaning & Sanitation
· Set up and operate dishwashing equipment
· Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, appliances, and food service tools
· Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen and dishwashing areas
· Sweep and mop kitchen floors as required
· Empty and sanitize garbage containers and recycling areas
· Complete all scheduled cleaning tasks and sanitation procedures
· Maintain spotless workspaces, storage rooms, and kitchenettes
· Ensure exterior areas, receiving zones, entrances, and exits remain clean and safe
· During winter months, clear snow and ice from kitchen entrances and exits when required
Stocking & Inventory
· Receive, inspect, and organize food and supply deliveries
· Monitor inventory and replenish stock as needed
· Rotate perishable products to maintain freshness and minimize waste
· Restock kitchenettes with beverages, snacks, coffee supplies, utensils, and essentials
· Monitor and replenish cleaning products and kitchen supplies
Equipment, Maintenance & Operations
· Assist with assembly and maintenance of kitchen equipment
· Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, grills, and related culinary equipment under supervision
· Assist in maintaining organized storage and work areas
Health & Safety
· Follow all food safety, sanitation, WHMIS, and workplace health and safety procedures
· Maintain compliance with hygiene and food handling regulations
· Actively contribute to a safe, organized, and professional work environment
Qualifications
Essential
· Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene, food safety, and sanitation practices
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to follow instructions accurately in a fast-paced environment
· Strong communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Physically capable of repetitive manual tasks, prolonged standing, and lifting 25-30lbs or heavier when required
· Flexible availability and willingness to support varying operational needs
· High energy, professionalism, and self-motivation
Preferred
· Previous experience in kitchen, culinary, dishwashing, hospitality, or catering environments is an asset
· Food Safety Certification and WHMIS training are assets
· Familiarity with high-end or fine dining operations is advantageous
· Clean criminal background preferred
· Strong written and spoken English communication skills
· Passion for culinary arts, hospitality, and customer service
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced kitchen and catering environment requiring frequent standing, lifting, cleaning, food preparation, and event support. Protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, and non-slip footwear may be required.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus benefits.
