Full job description

The IOOF has recently embarked on the largest capital project in the IOOF’s history, with the launch of a $1.2 million redevelopment campaign to expand the facility to a 226-bed long-term care home. This transformative revitalization will create 64 new long-term care beds and 66 upgraded beds, modern spaces, updated equipment, private rooms, and increased square footage.

The IOOF is looking for a strong communicator to assume a summer position, who is results-oriented and can work collaboratively with our maintenance and building service team. The candidate will work closely with the Maintenance team to assist with indoor and outdoor building maintenance tasks.

Job Requirements:

You are a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
You are between the ages of 15 and 30
You DO NOT need to be a student

This job is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program, and is 8 weeks from June to August.

Canada Summer Jobs is an initiative of the Youth Employment Strategy, which is the Government of Canada’s commitment to help young people between the ages of 15 and 30, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to transition successfully into the labour market.

This position will be located at 92 Dean Avenue in Barrie and will report to the Building Manager.

Student will be mentored in the area of maintenance and building management by the maintenance management team
Emphasis in areas that impact IPAC procedures related to HVAC systems. This will include system filters and specialized disinfecting equipment.
Student’s understanding of building maintenance at a multi-building campus will be experienced resulting in practical knowledge.
Mechanical skills (HVAC, electrical and plumbing) will be improved.
Time management will be experienced and understood.
Minor project work assistance and experience.
Assisting skilled trades with minor tasks.
Fire safety training will be provided and will assist in the monthly fire drills.
Assistance in carrying out preventative maintenance procedures for the building’s equipment and grounds
Assist transporting equipment, furniture and supplies.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $21.11 per hour
