Job Title: Night Auditor

Department: Front Office

Reports To: Front Office Manager (or Operations Manager / Hotel Director in their absence)

Shift: Overnight (12:00 AM – 8:00 AM)

Position Summary

The Night Auditor is a crucial member of the Front Office team, overseeing overnight hotel operations to ensure seamless continuity of service. This role blends high-level guest relations with meticulous financial administration. The successful candidate will manage overnight arrivals and departures, reconcile the day’s transactions, balance guest accounts, and act as the primary point of contact for guest safety and emergency situations during the shift.

Key Responsibilities

Audit & Reconciliation: Execute night audit procedures, post daily room charges, balance guest accounts, and reconcile the cash drawer against daily receipts.
Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate and correct out-of-balance accounts and transaction errors to maintain immaculate financial records and ledgers.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive night audit reports and distribute timely, accurate operational data to management and incoming departments.
Exemplary Service: Provide a welcoming, empathetic, and professional experience for overnight guests, handling check-ins, check-outs, and walk-in reservations.
Reservation Support: Manage incoming reservations, process telephone bookings, and confirm availability across external booking channels (extranets).
Cross-Shift Continuity: Ensure a smooth transition by logging special requests and providing detailed handovers to the morning shift team.
Cleaning: Ensuring the grounds around exit doors, hallways, lobby and other guest used areas are clean, cleared of tripping hazards and guest items. Dusted, mopped and ready for guest first impression upon waking in the morning hours.
Property Security: Conduct routine hourly property inspections and security checks to safeguard guests, staff, and hotel assets overnight.
Incident Response: Act as the primary decision-maker during overnight emergencies, managing unpredictable situations with poise, creativity, and sound judgment.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Proven experience as a Night Auditor or Guest Services Agent, preferably within the hospitality industry.
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Opera Property Management System (PMS) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Education: College degree in Hospitality Management, Accounting, or a related field is highly preferred.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Soft Skills:
A genuine passion for customer service, paired with impeccable grooming and presentation standards.
The ability to work independently, unsupervised, and remain calm under pressure.
High discretion and absolute respect for guest confidentiality.
