Full job description

Manager, Finance & Reporting

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Financial Reporting & Accounting

Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established timelines.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, CRA regulations for not-for-profit organizations, and organizational policies.
Coordinate the annual external audit, including preparation of working papers, schedules, and liaison with external auditors.
Assist in maintaining sound accounting practices and internal controls to support financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
Monitor accounting activities and ensure the accurate recording of financial transactions across all programs and entities.

Financial Operations

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billings, payroll processing, and general ledger activities.
Review account reconciliations and support the timely resolution of discrepancies.
Assist in identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and workflows to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Support finance system enhancements and modernization initiatives as required.

Budgeting, Analysis & Financial Management

Support the CFO in the preparation and coordination of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Prepare financial analyses, variance reports, cash flow projections, and other management reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Monitor organizational performance against approved budgets and forecasts, identifying trends and providing insights to management.
Assist in the preparation of financial reporting packages and supporting materials for senior leadership and the Board.
Support cash flow management, debt tracking, covenant reporting, and other treasury-related activities.

Team Support & Collaboration

Provide day-to-day guidance and support to finance team members, helping ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of work.
Collaborate with department leaders to support budgeting, reporting, and financial management needs.
Work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team to support organizational initiatives and operational objectives.
Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance function.

Governance & Compliance

Prepare financial reports and supporting materials for the CFO, Finance Committee, Board of Directors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Support organizational compliance, audit, and risk management activities through accurate reporting and documentation.
Assist in the development and maintenance of finance policies, procedures, and reporting standards.

You Will Bring Exceptional Talent

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA designation preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or not-for-profit finance.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounting principles.
Experience coordinating external audits and preparing financial statements.
Knowledge of CRA regulations and reporting requirements for not-for-profit organizations is an asset.
Experience supporting process improvements, finance system enhancements, or modernization initiatives is considered an asset.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial management systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
