Position Summary:
- The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch seeks a Housing (Finance) Specialist, in accordance with the agency’s policies, standards, and guidelines, is responsible for supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Housing Programs. This includes reviewing and verifying rent supplement agreements, the development of ongoing housing processes, and overseeing the overall development of housing expertise within Housing and Support Services staff.
What You'll Do:
- Review, verify, and process rent supplements to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain and update Schedule 2A (current and upcoming fiscal years)
- Balance Schedule 2A against Financial Statements on a monthly basis
- Import financial data into GP and process monthly rent supplement payments to landlords
- Maintain and reconcile cheque and EFT payment tracking spreadsheets
- Manage and maintain sales invoicing for Head Lease units
- Prepare Annual Information Return (AIR) for submission to Director, Finance & Facilities
- Prepare annual housing budgets for review and approval
- Coordinate utility connections and disconnections for client units
- Review and process utility invoices in a timely manner
- Ensure all housing-related expenses are accurately recorded and aligned with budgets
- Ensure all Housing Intake (HI) documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) directives and funding requirements
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records for audit and reporting purposes
- Liaise with landlords regarding rent payments, arrears, and financial inquiries
- Support the stabilization of client housing by proactively addressing payment or tenancy concerns
- Provide back-up support to Program Housing Specialist, including guidance to staff on Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) matters
- Provide back-up support in liaising with community partners (e.g., Wendat, OSMH, CGMH, CMHA-YR, Enaahtig)
- Provide back-up support by attending Landlord and Tenant Board (Tribunal) hearings to support clients at risk of eviction
- Assist Accounts Payable Clerk with housing-related financial processes as required
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and other designated meetings to support program effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager or organizational leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- 1 - 3 years of experience in housing programs, mental health services, or financial administration.
- Diploma and/or Degree in a related field such as human-services, social services, business, accounting, and/or finance.
- Knowledge of housing law (e.g., Residential Tenancies Act) or property management principles is considered an asset.
- Must have access to a vehicle, a valid Ontario driver’s license, and adequate automobile insurance.
- Submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), including a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
- Fluency in French or another second language would be an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Salary Scale:
- Corporate Support: $49,413-$55,146 *per annum
Hours of Work:
- Thirty-five (35) hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Able to work within a flexible framework to respond to client needs.
