As Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax approaches our 60th anniversary in 2027, we're looking ahead to the next chapter of our impact. For six decades, we've connected caring adult mentors with children and youth, creating life-changing relationships that help young people realize their full potential.
Today, we're continuing to evolve to meet the changing needs of children, youth, families, and volunteers. We're looking for someone who shares our belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive and wants to play a meaningful role in creating those opportunities.
We're seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and relationship-focused Enrolment & Intake Coordinator to join our Service Delivery team.
As the first point of contact for many of the volunteers, children, youth, and families we serve, you'll help create a welcoming, supportive, and professional experience from the very first interaction. You'll guide participants through the enrolment journey, help ensure they're ready for successful mentoring relationships, and connect families with community supports when mentoring isn't the right fit

What You'll Do
As a member of our Service Delivery team, you will:
- Facilitate engaging Big Information & Orientation Sessions for prospective volunteers.
- Guide volunteers through the enrolment, screening, and onboarding process.
- Conduct interviews and assessments with volunteers, children, youth, and families.
- Manage participant waitlists through proactive communication, engagement, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with our Service Delivery Administration Coordinator to ensure participant documentation, screening requirements, and records are complete and up to date.
- Help children and families access the supports they need by providing warm referrals to community resources when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate participant records and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Support participant activities, volunteer engagement opportunities, and agency events.
What You'll Bring
You enjoy connecting with people and helping them feel welcomed, informed, and supported. You're comfortable facilitating group presentations, conducting thoughtful one-on-one conversations, and managing multiple priorities with professionalism and compassion.
You'll bring:
- Education in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with children, youth, families, volunteers, or within community-based or human service organizations.
- Strong interviewing, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using technology and maintaining accurate electronic records.
- A strengths-based, trauma-informed, and inclusive approach to supporting diverse children, youth, families, and volunteers.

- Salary starts at $37,500 for entry-level candidates, with placement on our salary grid based on relevant education and experience

Flexible & Hybrid Work:
We recognize that great work doesn't only happen at a desk. This position offers a hybrid work environment, providing the flexibility to work remotely while maintaining a meaningful in-office presence to support collaboration, team connection, and participant service.
Team members are expected to maintain a regular presence in the office, including for volunteer orientation sessions, participant interviews, team meetings, and other collaborative activities. Beyond these responsibilities, employees have the flexibility to work remotely when operationally appropriate.
We also recognize that community-based service delivery doesn't always fit a traditional Monday-to-Friday schedule. We believe flexibility is a two-way commitment, supporting both the needs of our participants and the personal well-being of our team.
Additional Requirements
- Legally authorized to live and work in Nova Scotia.
- Successful completion and maintenance of a Criminal Record Check (CRC), Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), and Child Abuse Registry (CAR) Check.
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
- Ability to work a flexible 37.5-hour work week, including frequent evenings and weekends, to accommodate volunteer orientation sessions, volunteer and family interviews, and agency programming.
